Week 10 Start or Sit..

November 9th, 2007

Here are some guys that I think are going to have the biggest days this weekend. I have also included a list of guys that I would steer clear of. Check it out, I hope it helps you make your lineup decisions.

QUARTERBACKS:

Here are 5 Must Starts (In order)

1) Drew Brees: He will feast on the Rams defense, even though the Lams are coming off a bye. This offense is running on all cylinders, and Brees is at the helm. Look for over 300 yards passing and at least 2 TD’s. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he gets 4 TD’s, or more.

2) Ben Roethlisberger: He has been cleared to play, and is off their injury report. That means he will be comfortable making plays on the move as he did Monday night. Expect him to be involved in a shootout against a Cleveland team that can put up points.

3) Peyton Manning: He is the solid starter that we all have known to love. He will have a nice day against this Charger defense that is not in sync, letting Minnesota have their way with them last week. Look for 250+ yds and a couple TDs, maybe 3.

4) Jon Kitna: This game will be a high scoring affair between 2 teams that have little, if any defense. Kitna will find his all world targets and rack up yards with multiple TD’s sprinkled in between.

5) Kurt Warner: I don’t know why more people don’t have him higher on their projections. He will be fine in this shootout with Kitna and the Lions. He too has top notch talent at WR, and will have over 250 yards and at least a couple of TD’s.

Honorable Mentions, guys that should be in your starting lineup…

Tony Romo

Marc Bulger

Eli Manning

Carson Palmer

Here are 5 usual Starts that you should Sit, don’t use them (In no particular order)

1) Derek Anderson: I think that he will have a serviceable day, but not the kind of day we all have grown to expect from fantasy football’s #3 QB. He will also have a couple picks to add to his final stat line. Look elsewhere if you can.

2) Donovan McNabb: He will have a real tough time against one of the better pass defenses in the league on the road. This has not been the McNabb of the past. Use someone else.

3) Vince Young: He will find it tough to make plays against the Jags. The run game will have a hard time, and he will be forced to make plays through the air, which will lead to mistakes.

4) J.P. Losman: Lee Evans soul mate will not have as nice of a day as everyone expects. Lee Evans might, but I have a feeling that Lee Evans will have about 120 yards and a TD, which will be about what Losman gets.

5) Brett Farve: This is a tough division game for the leader of the Pack. Minnesota will control the clock with their ground game, leaving less opportunities for Farve to make plays.

RUNNING BACKS:

Guys you gotta have in there, must Starts (In order)

1) LaDainian Tomlinson: He will have a huge day in a game that they will need him to have a typical monster LT performance to stay close.

2) Reggie Bush: It’s a WR, it’s a RB, it’s the second coming of Brian Westbrook, only faster and getting better with each passing week. He will have scores on the ground and through the air in this one.

3) Joesph Addai: He has turned into the Colts offensive MVP. He will continue to lead them to victory this weekend against a Chargers defense that gave up the NFL rushing record to Purple Jesus last week.

4) Purple Jesus: The man who used to be known as Adrian Peterson, now known as Purple Jesus will run over the Packers, but don’t expect the world. The Pack have a lot of pride and the personnel to limit him. Even so, if he gets 20+ carries, that’s 100 yards and a TD in the bank. If the Pack doesn’t bring their A game on defense, look out. We may see 300 yards rushing.

5) Brian Westbrook: He has traditionally been a Redskins killer. He will do it on the ground and through the air this week. 150 total yards and at least 1 TD is what I see.

Honorable Mentions, use em’ if you got em’…

Willie Parker

Willis McGahee

Brandon Jacobs

Guys to steer clear of, don’t use them (In no particular order)

1) Cedric Benson: Like you didn’t already know this. Don’t use him anymore. He stinks more than that toilet in the movie Trainspotting.

2) Lendel White: The Jags are too tough on defense against the run, and he is banged up. Don’t expect too much here.

3) Maurice Jones-Drew: The Titans are tough against the run as well. Plus he is in a time share, not a recipe for success.

4) Shaun Alexander: Too old and too slow to do anything. Plus he is hurting, all the things you hate too hear about your first round pick. Bite the bullet and look elsewhere.

5) Jamal Lewis: Showed us last week that he can fall forward for TD’s, but this week he faces a wall that will stop him from falling into the end zone for freebies.

Dishonorable Mentions, don’t go there…

Travis Henry

Warrick Dunn(Or should I say Warrick DONE)

Ryan Grant

WIDE RECEIVERS:

Guys you gotta Start (In order)

1) T.J. Houshmandzadeh: He may be fantasy’s top receiver before the year is over, even better than Randy. Only time will tell, but the pieces are in place. He will tear it up this week.

2) Reggie Wayne: He will have a great day filling in as the only WR Manning will be able to count on this week.

3) Marques Colston: Will run up and down the field catching all kinds of passes from Brees. He is a huge target that will come through this week for you.

4) Plaxico Burress: Week off should have helped him heal up, too bad for the Cowboys. Eli will go to him early and often.

5) Anquan Boldin: He will do a lot of damage after the catch. There are not many guys who play for NFL secondaries that can stop him once he gets going in the open field.

Honorable Mentions, use em’ if you got em’…

T.O.

Lee Evans

Torry Holt

Braylon Edwards

Larry Fitzgerald

Roy Williams

Derrick Mason

Guys to steer clear of, don’t use them (in no particular order)

1) Dwayne Bowe: Champ Bailey will be on him all day, enough said.

2) Steve Smith: I don’t care who plays QB for them, this situation can not be trusted.

3) Donald Driver: He is no longer Farve’s go to guy. This will not be a high scoring game, and it will be cold outside at Lambeau. Not good things for Driver.

4) Brandon Marshall: He is a beast, but this will be tough for him. If you need more, remember Patrick Ramsey will be throwing to him.

5) Bobby Engram: Nate Clements will cover him, and Deion Branch might come back. 2 things that are not good for him. Look elsewhere if you can.

Dishonorable Mentions, don’t even think about using them…

Kevin Curtis

Chris Chambers

Brandon Stokely

Don’t worry, I know that I will not be right on a lot of these. This is just one man’s opinion. Take it for what it is, but at least consider the info. Monday Night Mayhem…

November 6th, 2007

I was getting pretty nervous watching the Monday night game. I had a sizable lead in my most important league and I thought I was on easy street. The other guy had Ben Roethlisberger and D. Mason, and I had a 47 point lead. Then my night got interesting. I watched Big Ben promptly put up 5 TD’s in the first half with ease, and I thought to myself (Didn’t Tom Brady play yesterday? How is he on the field for Pittsburgh when he plays for the Pats?). Big Ben was firing on all cylinders Monday night. In the end I was lucky because Mason didn’t do much and Big Ben pulled back in the second half. I sneaked away with the win, although I was sweating it pretty hard at halftime. I feel so bad for all of the people that lost their games because of the monster performance by the Steeler’s QB, but then on the other hand it must have been nice for those of you that won because of his big half. You gotta love how crazy Monday night performances can alter the landscape of fantasy football.

As for the rest of the players… Willis McGahee got dinged up a bit but provided some stats, and Willie Parker pretty much did little as Big Ben stole the show. Santonio Holmes is really becoming a nice hit and miss guy. When he hits he goes for a huge game, and if he can keep this up consistently he should be a nice every week play. I still don’t trust him 100% yet, as he sat out a game a few weeks ago that he was supposed to play, but you can’t argue with the way he played last night, even if the Raven’s secondary was not at full strength. I am a little upset at the Pittsburgh defense for beating me in one of my other leagues, but hey, such is life in this crazy fantasy world. You win some and you lose some. I am just happy that I was not on the Raven’s team during the first half of this game. That was embarrassing.

Look out for more posts this week. Don’t forget to enter your Start or Sit questions early so that you can get more answers to your questions. We will be posting something about the person who got the highest “Right Moves” percentage last week, and may even invite them to do a guest blog. We also may have another guy coming on here to do blogs on a regular basis. Look out for all the new things coming to the site. Please tell everyone about the site, as we are looking to spread the word. Thanks for reading this blog, and see you on www.FantasyStartOrSit.com

Weekend That Was…(Huge Plays! Huge Days!)

November 5th, 2007

There were definitely some players who ate their Wheaties Sunday morning.  You can’t start any discussion about what happened in the NFL this past weekend without mentioning the day that Adrian Peterson (the good Adrian Peterson) had for the Vikings.  I didn’t understand that this guy was this good.  The San Diego run defense is pretty respectable folks, and all he does is go out there and break the NFL’s single game rushing record against them.  With his one reception he goes over 300 total yards and also chipped in 3 TD’s.  It is pretty hard for a rookie to upstage the supposedly greatest game ever played in the history of human existence, (Pats vs Colts) but AP did just that.  I don’t think we will ever see a question about whether you should “Start or Sit” AP again.  He is a weekly start, and quite possibly next year’s number one draft pick in fantasy leagues.  Didn’t it seem as if we were witnessing a changing of the guard, with LT on the sideline producing a below average day (albeit against the Impenetrable Purple Wall Minnesota run defense)?

The game of the century was a great game to watch, and for the most part produced great fantasy numbers for most involved.  Moss, and Addai had monster days.  Brady had his worst day of the year, which most of us would take in a second considering the erratic play of many starting fantasy QB’s this year.  Peyton, Welker, and a slew of others produced serviceable numbers.  Dallas Clark and a few others kind of stunk it up (sorry for thinking he would take advantage of the Pats Defense).

There were many others who had monster days which kind of got swept under the rug with all the hoopla surrounding the battle of the undefeated and AP.  Clinton Portis showed us that he still knows how to run and had a monster day.  Jamal Lewis showed us that he still knows how to fall forward and recorded 4 TD’s on 37 yards on 20 carries.  Drew Brees showed us that he did not forget how to play QB at an elite level in the NFL, and that he may actually be worth the 3rd round or so pick that many used on him.  Addai and Moss headlined the numbers from the regular season Super Bowl (see above).  Lee Evans, Marques Colston, Terrell Owens, Marshawn Lynch, Greg Jennings, Larry Johnson (too bad about the injury), Tony Romo, Earnest Graham, Reggie Bush, and Brian Westbrook all put up great numbers that for many of us meant the difference between victory and a shameful loss.  Also have to give a shout out to the Detroit defense for putting up a huge day.  I know Denver is not looking good as of late, and they looked like many of your girlfriends do in the morning before they strap on the wonder bra and cake on the makeup once Patrick Ramsey had to take over for an injured Jay Cutler, but the Detroit team defense has been a pretty decent play in past weeks as well.  Gotta also mention Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, and Kellen Winslow (who did it without scoring a TD) for having good days at the TE position.  All in all there were a lot of guys who had a very fantasy friendly Sunday.  Let’s not even talk about the busts for the weekend, I am enjoying my Monday, especially since the Redskins evaded a catastrophe by pulling out an OT win against the bad New York team.  All you can ask for is a chance at the playoffs, as I’m sure many of you understand from your place in your fantasy league’s standings.  At 5-3 at least the Skins’ have that.  (I know, I know, there are still 2 teams with better records than them in their own division, but let me enjoy the win.  Think of me enjoying the Skins’ win as the guy who won ugly in your league to get to 4-5, which makes him feel that he is still in it.  Don’t rain on our parade, we will take whatever we can get).

Random thoughts… Getting ready to watch the Monday night game here, but wanted to tell you about my day yesterday.  I enjoyed this Sunday at a local watering hole (called the Old Pro) out here on the West Coast in the city of Palo Alto, Ca (where our headquarters are), prying myself out of bed for 10 am kickoffs for the early games.  (By the way, you East Coast guys have it made, with start times at 1 pm, now that is the good life, especially after Saturday nights out on town).  It was crazy because the place was relatively full for the early games, understandable because everyone wants to see their favorite teams from other cities when they aren’t on national TV.  What was crazy is that the place was rockin’ for the Pat/Colts game in the afternoon, which was on national TV.  There were more people standing up than sitting down, and every seat was taken.  Why would anyone want to watch a 3 hour game standing up when they could watch it at home on national TV?  Probably because of the hot women there.  They all sure came out for the regular season Super Bowl.  I spent the overtime of the Skins’ game surrounded by 5 of the hottest ladies I have seen in a while, as I pounded beers from 100 ounce containers with them while I watched my Skins’ win (a couple of them were bartenders, so they knew how to slam brews).  The kicker… I met them because they all play fantasy football.  Now if that’s not the good life, then I don’t know what is.

Start or Sit Top 10…

November 4th, 2007

Here are the top 10 players that people have asked Start or Sit questions about. (In no particular order) Posted at 3:15 am Pacific Time Sunday morining…

Anquan Boldin:  I wonder why so many people ask questions about him.  He will have a very nice day against the shorter Bucs secondary.  Larry Fitzgerald will command tons of attention, freeing him up for a productive day.

Joey Galloway:  Galloway should have a pretty good day against an Arizona secondary that has trouble stopping the pass.  It helps that Jeff Garcia is playing at a relatively high level as well, making smart decisions and limiting interceptions.  He will find his number one target.

Ike Hilliard:  Usually I’m not too big of a fan about Hilliard’s fantasy prospects.  I just feel that there is not much room for him, as his team is about the run game and Galloway.  However, he is a decent bye week fill in against the weak Arizona secondary, just don’t expect too much.

Roy Williams:  Usually you would be concerned that he will be matched up against Champ Bailey all day.  However I think Roy will be fine this week, and is actually a great play.  He is a physical freak of nature, and this will be a high scoring game, as neither team has a good defense.  Playing at home helps as well.  You remember what the Packers did to the Broncos secondary last week… the pass happy Lions have a chance to do the same this week.

Greg Jennings:  He had a great game last week, but take away his last 2 catches which came at the end of the 4th quarter and the first play in OT, and it was pretty lame.  He will have a hard time in Kansas City with all of the attention he will now receive.  I would look elsewhere if you can, however if you don’t have better options, then use him and expect an average day, nothing great.

Frank Gore:  Gore owners have been on an injury news roller coaster this week.  It is not known whether he will play or not, and even if he does, he might only last a few plays before the ankle acts up.  It is sad because he has such a juicy matchup, but if you want to take the risk, then go ahead.  I personally don’t like to plug in players that could potentially not finish the whole game.  This is the classic high risk high reward play.

Jamal Lewis:  Looks like he is more healthy this week.  He has a nice matchup at home versus the Seahawks.  I would use him if I had him, as it is hard to stop everything in this offense with the pass game humming along, which could open up a nice day for Jamal.

Clinton Portis:  I think one of two things will happen with Portis this week.  Either he will have a solid day, or he will blow it up and have a spectacular day.  The Jets defense is so pathetic, and the skins are looking to build back some confidence after getting smashed by the Pats last week.  Portis is one of the safest plays this week, with a ton of upside.

Willis McGahee:  McGahee has a very tough matchup this week on the road against a very stingy Pittsburgh run defense.  Don’t expect anything spectacular from him, although he is a steady performer who will get you an average day (think 80 combined yards with a chance at 1 TD) which is more than you can expect from a lot of RB’s right now.

Rudi Johnson:  A very juicy matchup here.  Buffalo can not stop the Bengals.  Rudi should have a great day.  The only thing that stands in his way is Kenny Watson.  They may have a 60-40 time share here in favor of Rudi, which might not get him as many points as someone who has more carries.  If I had him, I would start him in a second.  He has said that he is 100% healthy right now.

Here’s to all of you having a safe weekend, and good luck on Sunday.  Make sure to check the community votes results at FantasyStartorSit.com, which can easily be viewed by signing into your profile, then click on the big blue “Questions” tab on your main profile page.  Scroll down to the “My Recent Questions” area, and you can see the voting results to your questions.  Don’t foreget to also check back on Monday to see how good you were at answering questions.  You can see how good you are at answering questions by signing into your profile and your “Right Moves” percentage will be shown on your main profile page.  Good Luck to all of you, and to my beloved Redskins.  Don’t mess around Skins, bounce back and put em’ away!

Good Times! Big Game!

November 3rd, 2007

Let the good times roll.  This is an exciting week for the NFL and FantasyStartOrSit.com.  The NFL has it’s biggest regular season game in maybe a decade, maybe in it’s history.  FantasyStartOrSit.com’s history just started a couple of days ago, and we had our first article written about us.  Online Blog Mashable (www.mashable.com), which specializes in breaking news and reporting on social networking sites wrote an article about us earlier this week.    http://mashable.com/2007/10/31/fantasystartorsit/    Check out the article if you haven’t gotten a chance to.  Mad props to Adam Ostrow at Mashable for writing about us, thanks for spreading the word about our site.  Let’s get to the Pats at the Colts…

This game will be have more fantasy players on the field than playboy bunnies at Hugh’s mansion.  A quick run down of players that are most likely owned in average leagues includes:

Patriots- Golden Boy Tom Brady, Randy Moss, Wes WelkerLaurence Maroney, Donte’ Stallworth, Ben Watson, Kevin Faulk, Stephen Gostkowski, and the Pats team defense.  This list doesn’t even include the recently sidelined Sammy Morris.  Not including Morris, that is a whooping 9 legitimate players that people could use from one team, you try finding me that many fantasy players from one team (granted injuries could slow down Watson).

The Colts list includes Commercial Boy Peyton Manning, Joesph Addai, Reggie Wayne, Marvin Harrison (game time decision), Anthony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark, Kenton Keith, Adam Vinatieri, and the Colts team defense.

That means that there are 18 fantasy players of significance in this game.  I can’t remember a time in recent history where this many fantasy players were involved in one game.  It should be exciting.

As far as the game goes, I think that the Pats will win convincingly.  They are on a mission this year, and there is no better place to make a statement than at the house of the defending champs, who boast the only other undefeated record.  The Pats will likely try to air this one out, with Randy and Welker having big days, along with Brady throwing for at least 4 TD’s.  I have a feeling that if the Colts want to win this game, they will try to control the clock with the ground game.  They can’t keep up in a track meet with the Pats (especially with the uncertainty surrounding Marvin), so they will try to keep the Pats off the field, and Addai should have a hugh day.  Peyton should have a decent to good day, and Reggie Wayne should have a great day as well.  Dallas Clark might have a huge day because the Pats are vulnerable up the seam to athletic Tight Ends.  Antonio Gates and Kellen Winslow have had big days against them.

My final prediction for the score…

Pats 48  Colts 31

Weekend That Was… (Guys Step Up At Right Time)

October 29th, 2007

What’s up everyone. Sorry I wasn’t able to get a post up before the weekend games. Too many Halloween party obligations. Was a crazy weekend around here with the launch and all. Hope everyone had a fun and safe weekend. Let’s get to the “Weekend that Was” in the world of Fantasy Football.

I was really tempted to concentrate the focus of this blog on the beating that the Patriots gave my Redskins this week, but we went over the “Patriots Machine” in detail last week. Although I will get to what they did this weekend, I want to give some props to some other guys who stepped up this week and put together strong performances just when their fantasy owners needed them. Here’s to hoping that you guys had these players in your lineup.

QUARTERBACKS

Obviously Brady (306 yds, 3 pas TD’s, 2 rush TD’s) tore it up again, what else is new? Could he throw for 60 TD’s this year? What about 70? I know it sounds crazy, but is anything out of the question for the Pats this year?

Drew Brees (336 yds, 4 TD’s) came through big time just when many of his owners had either given up on him or were going down in flames with him as they tried to stay loyal to their QB.

Derek Anderson (248 yds, 3 TD’s) continues his monster year. Would you believe me if I told you that Derek Anderson has more overall fantasy points than Peyton Manning in standard scoring formats? Who would have ever thought that would be the case half way through the year?

It was also nice to see Marc Bulger and Donovan McNabb step it up nicely for their owners as they both topped 300 yards and threw one TD a piece.

One more weird piece of info, would you believe me if I told you that all five of these QBs combined to throw just 1 INT (by Bulger)?

RUNNING BACKS

So much for all of the RBBC (Running Back By Committee) talk in Indi. Joesph Addai pushed Kenton Keith to the back burner for now, totaling 100 rush yds, 2 rush TD’s, and a TD catch for good measure. I still think that Kenton Keith will be a factor as the year moves along, as they will try to keep Addai fresh, however this week had to be a big sigh of relief for Addai owners.

Brian Westbrook saved his day with 2 Td’s, one on the ground and one through the air. He totaled less than 100 yards from scrimmage. How often do you see that?

Lendel White, Brandon Jacobs, Willie Parker, and Kevin Jones also get honorable mentions for going over 100 yards rushing for the day.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Braylon Edwards (117 yds, 2 TD’s) is really treating fantasy owners with his consistency week in and week out. He had another monster day.

Reggie Wayne (168 yds, 1 TD) was just being Reggie Wayne, which is about as good as it gets for WR’s.

Someone who should really get some more credit is T.J. Houshmanzadeh (81 yds, 1TD). Hoosh has been on a consistent tear this year, and is hands down the best fantasy receiver in Cinci right now, and has been for a while now. For some reason (Chad Johnson) we always seem to undervalue Hoosh a little bit. If I were drafting a team right now, I would take Hoosh ahead of Ocho Cinco, and not think twice about it.

TIGHT ENDS

Antonio Gates (92 yds, 2 TD’s) remains king of this hill.

Others that looked good were Vernon Davis (71 yds, 1 TD) and Greg Olsen (59 yds, 1 TD). This feels like the first real day that Vernon Davis has put up numbers as a pro, while Greg Olsen looks like a legit threat week in and week out, and has been that way for a month now. If for some crazy reason Olsen is still on your waiver wire, grab him now!

TEAM DEFENSES

The Patriots and Chargers had nice days.

INJURY WATCH

Steven Jackson owners just can’t catch a break, can they? Just when their first round pick comes back and is having a nice first half, he gets injured in the first half and leaves the game. This time the culprit was back spasms. He has the bye in week 9, so stay tuned.

Frank Gore owners have to be concerned about the way the season is unfolding for their first round pick. He has been underperforming in the lackluster San Francisco offense, and now has an ankle injury to deal with. Monitor him very closely this week.

Reggie Bush and his ribs should be fine, as he topped 100 yards from scrimmage again.

Clinton Portis had an issue with his hand, but returned to the game and will be fine for his favorable matchup against the Jets in week 9.

Laveranues Coles got hit real hard and had to leave the game. It is unclear what the issue is here, but a concussion is a likely result of the massive hit he took.

Well, I guess I will wait to talk a bit about the Patriots and the Colts game in a blog post later this week. This post is getting long, and people want it shorter. It is hard because there is so much info in the NFL that needs to be relayed to fantasy owners, and I would love to be a place where you all can go to get the latest news around the league. However, I understand that in today’s world we need to get in and out so we can move on with our busy lives, so I will try my best to shorten up the blogs in the future. Thanks for reading the blog, and good luck with your fantasy teams.

Weekend That Was… (Patriots Machine)

October 24th, 2007

Here goes the first post on this blog about Fantasy Football. I am really excited to bring Fantasy Football Analysis to all of you. We haven’t figured out just yet how we are going to set up the posts on this blog, but check back regularly as we will have content for all of you out there. No more wasting time, let’s go over the Weekend That Was… The Patriots Machine is a real fun gravy train to ride right now for those owners lucky enough to own their stars. They are everywhere, aren’t they? Brady, Moss, Welker, and even the defense are all top performers at their respective positions. There are also those solids “starts” that may not be stars, but people start them with confidence, such as Watson, Sammy (when healthy), Maroney, Stallworth, and even Gostkowski. Right now they are giving away gifts to fantasy owners with their blowouts, seemingly convinced to prove to the rest of the NFL that they don’t need to cheat to crush teams. I say keep it coming, as I own Brady in one of my leagues, and am in first place. If any of you own any of the Patriots Machine, it may be smart to start thinking about backup plans for the weeks that the playoffs are played if they have nothing to play for by then. You would have to think that Belichick may rest them up if they have everything wrapped up by then. The interesting part is that even in those contests, you would have to think that guys like Brady may get to at least play the first half, which was enough time for him to throw 5 first half TD’s (he had 3 by halftime the week before). For those of you who own players on the Patriots Machine, you may have to root for the Colts to hold pace with them (even if that means beating them a couple weeks from now), or for the magical 16-0 dream to continue all the way to week 17, because then your Patriots Machine will be humming along at full force during the Fantasy Playoffs (weeks 14, 15, 16, 17), where they will feast on the likes of Pittsburgh, Jets, Miami, and the Giants. Yeah, I know it looks like it could be a tough one with Pitt coming to town in week 14, but I think they will be fine. With the way Brady is playing, I think there isn’t a defense in the NFL that can stop this force.

Enough about those Pats. Let’s talk about the rest of the water cooler fodder. Well, it starts out with a bit of bad news for those Ronnie Brown owners. He’s out for the year, and in comes Jessie Chatman. I really hope all of the Ronnie Brown owners were able to grab him before any vultures swooped him up. Even if you did get him, there is no way you can expect him to produce like Brown. The Miami ground game was already headed south once Trent Green went down and Chambers got traded. Does the trio of Marty Booker, Cleo Lemon, and Chatman scare any defensive coordinators? I don’t think so. These mid season gems that everyone runs to grab usually don’t produce guys who put up eye popping numbers. Consistency is usually an issue as well. However, Chatman could come in handy as a guy who could perform against a decent matchup against a lesser opponent.

There are some situations with injuries to guys like Travis Henry and Maurice Jones Drew that bear monitoring. Guys like Gore, Cedric Benson, and Brandon Jacobs got dinged up during the game but seem fine. And if you own guys like Steven Jackson, Jamal Lewis, Maroney, and a whole bunch of others, you follow the injury updates during the week as close as you follow stat tracker on Sundays. Point is, monitor these guys and make adjustments accordingly, the earlier the better so that you have something to pick through before the vultures pounce. Take some flyers. A couple of guys that might be available in medium size leagues that could help out are Chris Henry (TEN, RB, 11 carries, 57 yds, 1 TD) and Kenton Keith (IND, RB, 15 carries, 56 yds, 1 TD). Henry looks like he is a nice compliment to White in the Titans rush heavy attack. If Chris Brown misses time, he would be a nice plug and play. Keith seems to be the new version of Dominick Rhodes for the Colts. These guys are probably not owned in a lot of leagues, and are guys that could help you in the near term, and in Keith’s case, could help out big time if Addai were to ever get hurt. There are 6 teams on byes this week, so these waiver wire gems could help out some of you.

As of this writing, the injury news for Jamal Lewis and Brandon Jacobs looks encouraging, so no need to worry there, but still check the inactives list Sunday morning to make sure. There is no worse feeling than getting a goose egg for a guy that doesn’t even suit up.

Some other guys that could pique some interest are dudes like Maurice Morris. Shaun Alexander is officially in trouble. He looks so old and slow out there. The Seahawks have slowly been siphoning some of his carries off to Morris and the fullback Weaver. Weaver actually had a decent game in week 6, and this situation smells of stink for Alexander owners.

For those with QB problems, I feel for you. Outside of Brady, the older Manning, Palmer, and Romo, there are just not any guys out there that make for an every week confident start. The thing all of you have to do is play musical chairs with the QB’s every week and hope you can make the right calls. Use our website to help you do that. That’s why we made the site, to help you decide who to Start. There are some interesting matchups this week for guys like Brian Griese. He has a pathetic Detroit pass defense on tap this week, and has shown in the past couple of weeks that he is useable.

If it is a receiver that you are looking for, Brandon Stokely could potentially help you now that Javon Walker is out. Stokely has the stingy Green Bay defense in week 8 so don’t expect much there, however he tangos with Detroit, Kansas City, and Tennessee after the Packers, and none of them are that great against the pass. Keep an eye out for Chris Henry, the wide receiver for Cincinnati who comes off suspension soon. His 8 game suspension ends after this week, and the Bengals have an easy playoff schedule. If you are an owner who is in the playoff race and is forward thinking, adding him to your roster if you have the room is not a bad idea.

I will blog later in the week with some advice on who is a good play this week and who is not, so look out for that. I hope this was a fun quick read, and want to thank those of you who took the time to read this blog.

There’s a First Time for Everything…

October 22nd, 2007

To all of you that don’t know me, which is just about everyone except the people in my close knit sphere of influence, my name is Viraj Hariyani.  Welcome to the first ever post of this blog on FantasyStartOrSit.com  To be honest, this is the first blog post that I have ever written.  Basically, the idea of this site came to me after years of being absolutely obsessed with Fantasy Football.  Even to this day, I get dozens of calls throughout the week from friends and friends of friends who ask me for advice about Fantasy Football.  I don’t even need to set an alarm to get up on time for the 10:00 am (Pacific time) start to the early NFL games on Sunday morning because I always get at least 20 missed calls from 8:00am to 9:00am from people asking me for last minute start/sit advice.  By the way, it is kind of nice, because it is usually really hard to get up after a nice night of partying on Saturday night.  So, I thought that this site would be a great way for any Fantasy Football player, regardless of skill level, to get help for their own fantasy teams, and to give help to others.  I really hope that you all use this site and tell all of your friends, because the more people we have on this site, the more value it creates for everyone.  I don’t want to bore you with all of the intricacies of the site, it’s really easy to learn more about our website by visiting the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ’s) tab which can be accessed from the home page.  But if I had to put it in a nutshell, this site is a place where you can ask your own questions about who to start or sit, and the natural byproduct of that is that you can also help out others by answering their start or sit questions in a quick and fast format.  By getting your league scoring format at profile creation, we also let you know how good you are at answering other’s questions and giving fantasy advice.  You will know if the player you picked when answering other people’s questions was the player who ended up getting the most fantasy points in the league for the person who asked the question.  Wow, that last sentence sure was a mouth full.

First order of business is that I want to apologize to all of you out there.  We moved to Palo Alto, Ca.  at the beginning of August.  We started development on this site in Mid August, and were hoping to have it launched by the beginning of football season (Sep. 6th).  Little did I know that fully completing the product cycle of a web app in that time frame is an extremely hard thing to do.  I want to give special thanks to the other two guys who are my co-founders who helped bring this site to the world.  I just want to tell them that I can’t believe we did it, our first website!  Guys I think the site will be successful, which in turn will mean that hopefully we will be successful, which in turn could mean that we don’t have to live off top ramen anymore.  My brother Deven (aka Devo) and our friend Prathap (aka Master P).  Crazy Devo coded for over a hundred hours this past week to finish up the site, and without Master P and his genious mathematical brain we never would have been able to figure out the calculations and database tables needed to make the site work.   Just so you all know, we have worked our tails off every day since we started, and I can go to sleep at night knowing that we did everything possible to get a site out there that looks professional and cool, and can bring you all tons of value.  Regardless of our efforts, I would like to apologize to all of you for having to launch the site after the season started, but hey, that’s life, and I guess it’s better late than never, right?

So let’s forget about the setbacks of the past and enjoy the present day, and be excited for the promise that tomorrow brings.  To that end I want to welcome all of you to our little website that hopes to one day be a staple in the world of Fantasy Sports.  If all of you are like me, you love Fantasy Sports, especially Fantasy Football.  I know that everyone may not have the appreciation for Fantasy Football the way that I do, but to me Fantasy Football has provided me with the ability to enhance my love for the NFL and has taken it to another level.  I love football so much.  It has brought me so much happiness and pain (my favorite team is the Redskins).  In the end I love every moment of football season win or lose, because just like in life, there is always next week or next season to turn things around if they are not going the way you want them to.  If you win your fantasy league there is no better feeling, and the NFL and Fantasy Football give all of us the opportunity to have that feeling of being champions.  I will be blogging on this site regularly, and hope that all of you will take a look at it from time to time.  Once things get rolling here, I will do my best to give some analysis on Fantasy Football, and keep you all posted on the happenings of our website.  To the best of my ability, I want to make this website a place that you all enjoy visiting, and hopefully you all will be able to use it to win in your respective Fantasy Leagues.  I want to wish all of you the best of luck this season.  Thanks for visiting us here at FantasyStartOrSit.com, and we hope that you will come by and visit us again.
