(Frequently Asked Questions)
FANTASY START OR SIT.com

What is the purpose of this website, FantasyStartOrSit.com?

We created this website for 2 main purposes.

  1. To let people get help for their fantasy teams.
  2. To let people see if they are indeed a Fantasy Expert.

How can FantasyStartOrSit.com give me advice and help for my fantasy team?

There are many ways we can help you! FantasyStartOrSit.com solves the most basic need for a fantasy sports player… Who to “Start or Sit”. Most fantasy sports team owners may be able to ask a handful of friends in a given week for advice on whom they should “Start or Sit” from their roster. Or, a fantasy sports team owner can read a handful of articles/blogs to help them decide who they should “Start or Sit”. Or, a really ambitious fantasy sports team owner can even email an “expert” that writes a weekly “fantasy mailbag” article or blog from one of those big news/media companies (you all know who these big companies are). Those experts get tens of thousands of emails every day, and since they are only human, they can only answer a few questions in any given week. What about the rest of the tens of thousands of emails that don’t get answered? Where does that leave the rest of us who need help deciding who to start?!!!

Well, FantasyStartOrSit.com is a place where the rest of us can have our question answered. After creating a profile, you can post a question as to who you should “Start or Sit”. Then the user community answers your question for you by voting on who you should “Start or Sit”. The beauty of this website is that you can ask as many questions as you want! The more users we have, the more popular you all make this site, the more answers you will have for your questions. Think of a message board on steroids! This is just one of the ways that FantasyStartOrSit.com can help you with your fantasy team. You can also get help with our other services, like: “Trade or Not”, “Drop or Not”, and even “Win or Lose”.

I see how “Start or Sit” can help my team out big time, but what are “Trade or Not” and “Drop or Not”? And how can they help my fantasy team?

“Trade or Not” is a place where you can post questions about whether you should trade a player from your fantasy team for another player on another dude’s team. All of us have been there before, asking co-workers for help, stopping random people on the street or at a bar to get their fantasy opinion, and even emailing fantasy questions about your team to experts. Well, at FantasyStartOrSit.com under the “Trade or Not” service you can get the advice you need to help you decide if a trade is a good trade, or a bad deal.

Drop or not is a similar service where you can ask and answer questions about whether you should drop a player from your fantasy team’s roster to pick up another player from your league’s waiver wire. Similar in fashion to “Start or Sit” and “Trade or Not” this service is quick and simple. It’s a fast paced message board on steroids that gets you the advice you need to make the toughest decisions for your fantasy team!

What about all this talk of “Are you a Fantasy Expert?” and what you were saying earlier about being able to see my level of fantasy expertise?

There are two main “hats” you can wear on this site. Although you could only wear one hat if you want to, we encourage all of you to wear both “hats”. The first “hat” you “wear” is when you ask a question and throw it into the pool of questions for everyone to answer. That is when you wear the “Ask a Question Hat.” We need those. The other “hat” you “wear” is when you answer questions that other users have asked. We make it easy for you to answer questions, they just pop up one after another and you gotta just go with your gut instincts and make a selection. To help you make the decision, there is a vertical box (to the right of the players that the question is being asked about) that contains the league scoring format of the person who asked the question. You have to create a profile and be logged in to ask questions, and to see how good you are at answering questions. That’s right, we will let you know how many questions you answered correctly after the real life games have been played. So you, as a person that helped answer other people’s questions, will know how good you are at giving fantasy sports advice. The higher your percentage of questions answered correctly, the greater your degree of fantasy expertise. By the way: don’t think that you can just answer one question correctly and have a 100% “Right Moves” ratio that makes you a fantasy expert… you must have a minimum number of questions answered to be eligible to receive “expert” status.

How do you know if the question was answered correctly? Everyone has different scoring formats in their fantasy leagues?

To ask a question you have to create a profile and be logged in. It only takes a couple of minutes. One of the things we need to know about you at profile creation is: What is your fantasy league’s scoring format? We make it real simple for you to let us know how your league(s) calculates fantasy points. Just fill in how many points you get in your league for the specific scoring categories. We have tried our best to include as many of the custom scoring categories out there as we could, and if your league doesn’t use some of these, just leave those blank. Many of us have different custom scoring formats, and by entering the your league’s scoring format with your profile we know which users gave you the best advice as to who you should “Start or Sit”. Remember, to see how good you are at answering questions you have to create a profile and be logged in. The information for the league scoring format for each question is directly to the right of each question in the “League Scoring Format” box.

Why would anyone want to answer questions?

First and foremost is because if you love fantasy sports, it is fun! It is a great way to kill a few minutes (or hours) at a boring desk job. Lets’ be real, you probably spend a lot of time at work managing and monitoring your fantasy team, but that can only take you so far. At FantasyStartOrSit.com you can get help for your team, and entertain your mind by seeing how many questions you can answer correctly. Aside from that, it will enable you to see if you are a true “Fantasy Expert.” If you create a profile and are signed in, then we can let you know how many other user’s questions you answered correctly from the total amount you answered, which will give you a percentage. The higher your percentage, the greater you level of “Fantasy Expertise.” (Minimum amount of questions answered per week applies. We are not gonna let you just answer 1 question a week and be right and have a 100% “Right Moves” ratio every week and let you obtain “expert” status. The more questions people answer, the better the site becomes, so please enjoy yourself and answer as many questions as possible, because it is better for you and everyone in the community. And don’t forget to post lots of questions too!

What is a “Right Move” and a Right Moves ratio?

“Right Move” is just a term that we use to let you know that you answered a question correctly. A “Right Moves” ratio is the percentage of questions that you have answered correctly. Remember, to see if you answered questions correctly, you have to create a profile and be signed in while you answer questions.

Do I have to create a profile and be signed in to answer questions?

You can answer questions without creating a profile and signing in. But to see if you are a “Fantasy Expert,” you have to create a profile and be signed in. That way we can track your answers to questions and see if you answered them correctly after the real games have been played.

Are all questions used in the equation for determining if you are a “Fantasy Expert?”

Only “Start or Sit” questions are used to determine if you are a “Fantasy Expert.” This is the only type of question that gives us a definitive answer. In terms of calculating your “Right Moves” ratio it is very subjective to say if a trade was a good trade or not, and if the dropping of a player on your roster and picking up someone else was a good move. What if you make the trade but don’t use the player, etc. That in no way means that “Trade or Not” and “Drop or Not” questions are not important. We encourage everyone to ask and answer all types of questions, it only makes the site a richer experience for everyone. This site is about giving the power to all of the fantasy sports players out there!

What’s up with the “Win or Lose” tab?

This a cool place where you can pick which teams will win in real life. People can see what other people are thinking, and it might help you make a decision in an office pool, or in Las Vegas.

Can I answer only certain questions? Can I sort questions that I am being asked?

Yes, select one of the different blue tabs to view specific questions, such a “Start or Sit” or “Trade or Not”.
